RecDown — Paste a link, download video
Douyin, YouTube, Bilibili and X / Twitter are parsed and downloaded directly on your Mac; other platforms are relayed through our parsing service. Paste multiple links at once, let RecDown pick up links from your clipboard automatically, or just drag links into the window. Downloads run in an adjustable-concurrency queue, and YouTube downloads can pick a quality and get auto-merged into a standard MP4.

What it does
On-device parsing + relayed platforms
Douyin, YouTube, Bilibili and X / Twitter links are parsed and downloaded directly on your Mac. Other platforms, such as TikTok and Instagram, are downloaded via our parsing service, which relays the request.
Batch paste, auto-detect
Paste a link, or a whole block of text shared from another app — multiple links at once work too. Switching back to RecDown auto-detects links sitting in your clipboard (it only prompts, never downloads automatically). You can also drag links straight into the window.
Download queue
Run 1 to 5 downloads at once with an adjustable concurrency limit, and see live progress and speed for each task.
YouTube quality + auto-merge
Choose high quality (up to 1080p) or standard quality (360p, smaller and great for transcription). Separate audio/video streams are automatically merged on-device into a standard MP4 (H.264 + AAC) that opens directly in QuickTime or any transcription app.
Completion alerts
Get a system notification when a download finishes, with the option to automatically "Reveal in Finder" or "Open with RecAi to transcribe."
Download history + auto-update
Your download history is kept for later reference, and the app checks for and installs updates automatically.
FAQ
Is it paid?
No, every feature is currently free to use.
What systems are supported?
macOS 15 or later, on either Apple Silicon (M-series) or Intel Macs. The app is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.
Why do some platforms go through your servers?
Douyin, YouTube, Bilibili and X / Twitter are parsed and downloaded entirely on your Mac — their links never touch our servers. Platforms with more complex parsing requirements, like TikTok and Instagram, are downloaded via our parsing service instead.
Why do downloaded YouTube videos just work?
YouTube often serves audio and video as separate streams. RecDown automatically merges them on-device into a standard MP4 (H.264 + AAC), so it opens directly in QuickTime or any transcription app without extra steps.
Can downloads open automatically when finished?
Yes — enable "Reveal in Finder" or "Open with RecAi to transcribe" in Settings, and you'll also get a system notification when a download completes.
Can I download anything?
Please only download content you have the right to save, and follow the terms of service of the platform you're using as well as applicable copyright law.
Privacy note
RecDown does not collect personal data, and the app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.
It reads parsing-service configuration from recai.wepics.app, and checks for updates against recai.download.
For Douyin, YouTube, Bilibili and X / Twitter, parsing and downloading happen entirely on your Mac — those links are never sent to our servers.
For platforms relayed through our parsing service, such as TikTok and Instagram, the link is sent to our parsing server and the download traffic
passes through it as well; we do not log any information tied to your identity.
